All-

    I am using the two counters on my USB 6218 simultaneously.  Counter 0 works, while counter 1 does not for the standard input.  When I switch counter 1 to the timebase, it counts the timebase fine.  When I switch it back to the standard pin (PFI3, I believe), it does not count my pulses.  However, this same pulse source counts fine on counter 0 on its standard pin.  Any suggestions?  It worked fine, but now I have changed computers (and no longer have access to the old one).  LV 2013, daqmx15.?.?  J

Hey guys, at work we have an old Windows 98 pc that has been used since the late 90's to run an  Ortec 974 Quad Counter. I need to replace this PC with a windows 10 pc. Does anybody know if the 974 counter is compatible with windows 10? i have tried the drivers on this site but havent had any luck.

Hi,

I'm using the NI USB-6221 which has two counter to my knowledge. I need to output 6 PWM signals (same freuquency, but independent duty cycle) to control 6 external valves. Is that somehow possible or would I need a DAQ device with 6 counters?

Hi,

 

I am using 9361 8ch counter modules to measure angular position of 4 encoders in Quadrature mode. I have 4 devices running in 2 test setups continuously, per device I run a separate thread in python to read the 4 signals from the buffer of the device, all devices are on a separate 9171 USB Chassis. Wiring from the encoders is through a 9923 DSUB to Screw Connector Block. In one setup 3 9171 chasis are on 1 powered USB hub. I sample using continuous sampling, and when taking a reading I read from the most recent sample backwards 200 samples.

In one of the 3 devices in this setup occasionally (3 - 4 times this year sofar) the channels are mixed-up, so the input signals appear in my software on another channel than expected (maybe circular shifted once or twice). In this case I need to reset the device to get it right again (meaning powering off and on again). This happens always on the same device, so 2 of the devices in this setup, and 1 in another single setup do not show this behaviour. Is this a known error in the device, and should I return it for repair, or is there another cause possible?

Hello

I'm need to acquire analog inputs and counter data from an linear quadrature encoder synchronous by a reference trigger.

 

I have successfully realized a synchronous but continuous acquisiton of the analog input and the counter as well as a triggered (referencetrigger) acquisistion of only analog inputs. But I struggle with the combination of both.

 

Is it even possible to acquire analog and counter data synchronous by a reference trigger? If yes do you have any examples, reference for me?

 

I am using the DAQmx driver and have a NI PXIe-1073 as chassis with a NI PXIe-6363 module installed.

I have made the program for Encoder in which I get the rpm. I am not the able to make the program for how to calculate  encoder angle with the help of the counter input. I am using NI6003 USB card and LabVIEW 2018 software for data acquisition. I am not getting any graph in which I can merge the analog input and counter input of the card.

Hello!

 

I would like to purchase a counter/ timer card, which captures a signal in 10ms. I am afraid that the microsoft system and LabVIEW could bring about 2ms delay. not so sure whether PCI-6601/6602/6612 supports buffered event counting?

I am using a NI 9361 c series counter input module, for edge counting of four signals.  I am using four of the inputs to change the count direction of each of the signals.  I am using the module in FPGA mode.  Is it possible to reset an individual counter channel, without stopping the module, using software?  I have limited space in the chassis to add more counter modules.

Hello, I am trying to install the Astronics driver for the PXIe-2461 Counter card. Have tried from NI website and from Astronics. The downloaded file is just a .exe. When I run it, it comes up with a message that it is looking for a .msi file. Has anyone successfully installed this driver?

We are trying to measure RPM using Monarch Tachometer - ROS self powered sensor  (https://monarchinstrument.com/collections/sensors/products/remote-optical-led-sensor-with-8-ft-cable-and-mounting_ with NI 9401 in the cDAQ chassis. 

 We are an extract from the Log Data (Digital Tach, DAQmx).vi.

Attached is the program we are using to get the speed profile from the program, we would like to use this to build an orbit plot.  My question is

1) What configuration to use in OAT Digital Tacho Process.vi for 9401 Card?

2) Our speeds of measurement are around 1000 RPM, what sampling rate and acquisiton time to use.

 

Simple calculation of RPM in the attached vi is giving the right value but output speed profile from OAT Digital Tacho Process is not giving the right values. We require the speed profile to use for orbit plots that is why we need the right output from OAT Digital Tacho Process.vi

 

Appreciate any help

Hi,

I have a PCI-6221M card with a BNC-2120 module.

I would like to count the "signal 3" impulses by counter input in my DAQu card.(exactly the number of impulses in one "package"). However, I have not found an option to run the counter only when the gate is open (signal 1).(if there is such a possibility, I would ask for a clue how to do it).

Therefore, I decided to read the gate opening time from the gate opening signal. Next, I trigger the counter input with the rising edge of the gate opening signal and count the impulses for the previously determined time. However, the counting result is different each time you start the program.When I remove the counter triggering and just turn on the counter, which counts "signal 2" impulses for a given time,the result is always correct. So i thnik that there is problem with triggering.

My question: Is the triggering of the counter input correct?

Hello, I am working with two test systems, each has an Astronics PXIe-2461. One of them works properly, the other one is recognized in MAX, can be initialized, configured, but no output is detected. The read command always times out. There are no blinking lights as on the working one. When one power cycles the system, the lights breifly come on but the off. Running the LabVIEW driver self test one can her clicking and result is passed. Any ideas on how/what to troubleshoot?

       大家好，我是一个labview编程新手。

        我在使用示例程序（CI角度编码器）采集伺服电机编码器信号出现了一点小问题。

        编码器输出信号有A+、A-、B+、B-、Z+、Z-，这里我按照MAX提示将A+、B+、Z+接到SCB-68 接线盒  ctr0的对应的A、B、Z端引脚。出现下述问题：

        电机未伺服使能情况下，我手动旋转轴，计数正常；但电机在伺服使能情况下，计数器的示数有时会一直增加，即使我没有进行任何的运动控制。

        不知道如何解决，希望大家能给我提供一些建议，谢谢！

Hi,

 

I'm using a NI9401 card on  cDAQ-9174 chasis, and I'm trying to use a frequency counter to measure an oscillating frequency (100Hz to 100kHz). My understanding is that when setting a frequency counter one should use the implicit timebase for the counter and let DAQ-mx decides on what timebase to use. But I have a couple of questions (it's my first time trying to use a counter):

 

1) Can I specify at what rate to sample the frequency counter? I want to read the counter at 10kHz, so I tried setting a timed loop and the fasted it can go is 1Hz. Is there a better way to do this? Maybe using a buffer and reading into the buffer at 10kHz? But how would I set up that second task?

 

2) Is it possible to know what timebase DAQ-mx is using for the frequency counter?

 

I'm attaching the task I created and VI for the timed loop. Thanks for the help.

Hi all

I use the DAQExpress ver.3.2.

Two counters can not be measured in one task at the same time.

An error is displayed saying "multiple counters can not be used in the same task of input operation"

When I try to use LabVIEW (VI), I can not display the linear position or the angular position, and "This node is not supported by DAQExpress" is displayed.

Is there any better way?

Hello,

 

I have a program that outputs TTL pulses using Counter Outputs with DAQmx to time equipment signals. We use the program to scan timing delays from a master oscillator. Occasionally we run into an issue where Labview will write the correct timing using DAQmx, but the signal on the card (PCI-6602) will not update to the new timing delay (measured using an oscilloscope). A temporary workaround we found is to restart Labview. This has become more frequent over time and I was wondering if I could receive input towards how to troubleshoot the problem more.

 

We are currently using Labview 2009, and we have noticed that the CPU usage of Labview is abnormally high during this time (up to 50%). This only seems to occur when the timing delays don't update properly, otherwise CPU usage is low (<5%).

Mi consulta es relacionada con la USB DAQ 6216, la cual cuenta con 2  canales  habilitados como contadores y que pueden ser utilizados para medir la posición angular de 2 encoders de doble cuadratura, en este momento estoy tratando de desarrollar un VI en el el cual necesito tomar la medida de  3 encoders (todos con  canales A y B)  y generar señales PWM, para controlar el movimiento de 2 motores con ejes solidarios a los ejes de los encoders respectivamente, ¿cómo habilitar canales (pines de la tajeta) de entradas digitales para que cumpla la función de contradores para un encoder adicional ?

The PXIe-2461 User Manual, publication no. 981038, states that there is a LabWindows/CVI API (Getting Started page 2-4) but I am unable to find any C drivers on National Instruments or Astronics' websites. The link provided in the User Manual is to a LabVIEW driver. Astronics was contacted but they were not able to provide a C driver. Does anyone have a C driver for the PXIe-2461 for a Windows system?
